Most people in Southwestern Michigan have under
5ppm of iron in their water, therefore, a water softener that is properly
set and sized is the solution for removing iron from the water. Some
water system companies will tell you that an iron filter system is
needed in addition to a water softener when the iron is 5ppm and below,
but this is not true with our water softener units. With a Gilbert's
Water System unit, iron filter systems are only necessary if your
iron is above 5ppm.
